We were able to celebrate Lily's sixth birthday this past weekend. I suppose every parent feels this way about their first, but seeing Lily turn six, putting her squarely in the big kid numbers, was kinda hard to swallow. Makes holding little Mags even more precious.
This year Lily was all over the map on her choice of party theme. First it was safari, then "wild girl," then Hawaiian Hula. After all the jumping around on things she wanted, Lily finally decided on her theme: Things I Really Like. Seriously.
Well, I had already purchased the grass skirting when I thought it was going to be a Hula party, so we had to use that. She was determined to have a pool at her party and she wanted fish to be incorporated. So, I present you with a Hula/Pool/Fishy party!
The cake had to carry the fishy theme all on its own, from its sandy top to the fish under the sea.
The crabby sandwiches were my favorite! They were filled with cashew chicken salad.
One little lady didn't want a sandwich, so the mister turned her hot dog into a deep sea crab.
The pool was a huge hit as you can see! It's the simple things, folks.
We have a lovely little hill in our back yard where I set up Addy's birthday tent from last year. The girls dried off and then ate their food up there. They seemed to really love having their own little hangout away from the adults.
Happy Birthday to Lily!
One picture to prove I was there! All the Hickok girls together.
Happy Birthday, sweet girl! You are forever loved!
