Patio Table Colors
With the eldest's big party coming up, I was opening to get some projects done on the back patio in time. I thought a lovely little tea party out back would be just the ticket, and that means sprucing up the space a bit. This table set was our first purchase when we moved to Washington 6 years ago (sigh...nostalgia). I painted it black during my "paint everything black and call it good" phase. Literally. The mister actually banned me from painting anymore furniture black. I have moved on from that phase, thank goodness, and now embrace loads of fun colors. I would love some input on which color you guys like best.
Here are my top contenders, but I would be open to more suggestions. I seem to be heavily leaning toward the middle blue color (for those of you who have been to my home, the same color as the kitchen cabinets). But the yellow and the coral are nice too. I realize I will be recovering the cushion material, so don't let that be your determiner.
Aaaannnnnnnd, go! Advice Away!

how about the black? kidding! I like the coral. Nice for outside colors. You can have tons of fun with it and especially for a tea party. Lots of pretty pink colors would go grand.
ReplyDeleteYou know me - resistant to change... so I LOVE your black with green cushions - just saying~ I know I will like whatever you do :) One thought - the lighter colors will show all the WA stuff that likes to descend ( or grow in the winter ) on our horizontal surfaces outside. So maybe green would work!
ReplyDeleteChoose wisely, my friend!
I just knew someone would say to keep it black! Haha! The black doesn't look bad in the pic, but close up it is terrible, so it has to be repainted either way! So, 1 for coral! Woohoo! :o)
ReplyDeleteThe middle one. With coral hilites.
ReplyDeleteThat will do.
I like the lime-y yellow! What about different colors for the table and chairs?
ReplyDeleteAlso... Do you have a Pinterest? I think I would love to follow what you pin!
Keri,
ReplyDeleteSo funny you should ask! I have heard about it for a little while now, and am on the waiting list. I am sure it will be a bit of a learning curve, but am excited to try it out. I assume you have a Pinterest account? Of course, you do, you super cool girl!
I vote coral! It is happy and just says "tea party!" = )
ReplyDeleteI am torn, but leaning towards the yellow & blue. Have you seen some of the fabrics C&B are doing this season? They would look awesome for the chair cushions. Keep it bright & whimsical, you can't go wrong. Looking forward to the finished product.
ReplyDeleteBTW... Laughed out loud at your 'paint everything black phase'. I was there too & still wander back.
I like the blue color myself, no reason for it. And even if you pick a color out that I didn't like, once I see it I am going to love it......I am such a chameleon!
ReplyDeleteo.k. what is Pinterest?
ReplyDeletei LOVE all the colors, but i might choose the yellow. i love how it pops against your siding. yellow can kinda be used as a neutral too so you could add anything to it. happy painting. ;)
ReplyDeletei'm going to go out of the box and say hyacinth or periwinkle....purples with a blue side.
ReplyDeleteGale, you brave soul! I love you! Way to think like my mister. He always chooses choice D when I only give him A-C!
ReplyDeleteuh.. duh... orange!
ReplyDeleteyou should just buy some more chairs to cover it.
ReplyDeleteJoyce- Pinterest is like an online place to store ideas. It is kind of hard to explain but you can look at mine to get a feel for what it is!

whoa, your blog is crazy popular, look at this party you have going! my mom is WRONG, don't paint it periwinkle. cause that's what color we're going to paint our outside table. but we won't get around to it forever, so then it will look like we are copying you. however, i am copying you all the time anyway, so who really cares.
ReplyDeletei think i like the yellow best for you, but the coraly color looks great with your house.
i want a pinterest!
Stephen... more chairs?? really? I thought she had enough chairs :)
ReplyDeleteThe mister was definitely being sarcastico! Besides painting everything black, I also collect chairs from thrift stores and apparently like to buy black cardigans every time I leave the house (which, btw, I only own 2!).
ReplyDeleteOh, and I think I am leaning toward the yellow now...will have to make a decision by Sunday, when I go get the paint...
ReplyDeleteYellow with washed green streaks then. Dry brush and wipe off with handful of grass. Make it fancy! (I like complicated)
ReplyDeleteRob, you are crazy! You know I have tow little girls around my ankles every moment of the day, right? Seriously!
ReplyDeleteBlue! And then do yellow and coral cushions. Man, do I miss you! I want to be there to help!
