Photo Shoot with the Ladies
If you are a mom, you know certain secret things. You know you are the only one who can tell when to take cookies out of your oven. You know exactly how much the laundry can overflow the basket and still be small enough to smash in the washer in one load. You know that you will rarely need to get gussied up for photos, because you are almost always behind the camera.
Knowing that photos of ourselves don't just magically happen, we, of course, wait until the final hour (grrrrr!) to take snapshots of ourselves together. Mom and Beka head north for Missouri in the morning. Tonight was our last chance to document this little vaca with some actual hard evidence. So, we did gussy up and head outside to the lovely brick exterior (so vintage chic) of our little abode.
My beautiful sis. I gave this girl a hair cut while she was here, and she bravely let me chop off around 6 inches!
I can see the resemblance!
This little one is gonna miss her Auntie like crazy! She isn't the only one, either.
The past nine days with my family have reminded me how sweet it is to be loved by those you grew up with. I am grateful they were willing to hold up in our little apartment, sleep on couches, and eat my under cooked green beans, just so they could hang with me and the littles.
Momma and Beka, you are both spectacular women. I thank my God for YOU. Someday soon we should all live in the same town again. Don't cha think?
i definitely think so, sis.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome of a mini vaca!! So glad that you guys had a great time! By the way, how is it possible to under-cook green beans?
ReplyDeleteFresh from the garden beans, are amazing raw, amazing roasted, but are apparently tough and chewy if put in a pot of water to boil, but never brought to a boil. They were just about the worst. Everyone ate them without a word. Haha!
Deletesis, they weren't that bad.
DeleteLove the pics. Will see you in person shortly to pass the love. Is your address close to the base? Setting up hotel and don't want to be to far away from you when we are down there.
ReplyDeleteSue, Maddy and Golda
Yes! We live right outside the North gate of the base, very close! So excited to you guys! Woohoo!
DeleteLovely post Lydia.
ReplyDeleteI am happy you ladies had a wonderful time together. I missed seeing a pic of your mom. I remember the feeling I had while I was spending a little bit of time with her. Such a sweet lady and wise too. She impacts people and as I think of it now, I believe I am so right. The way you are, shows how much your mom has positively influenced you.
Aaron and I love reading your blog Lydia. It makes us feel so close to your family. Hopefully some time in the future we'll meet again and we'll get to enjoy the time and the fellowship with you guys.
Greetings from far away,
Fjori
Dearest Sister in Christ! Thank you for your kind words. Yes, my mother is a wise woman in the Lord. She speaks truth in love and always seeks to encourage. I have heard many people talk about her that way. I hope I grow to me more like her, because that means I am growing more like our Christ.
DeleteWe miss you and Aaron so much. I know Stephen has never found another friend quite like your husband. Oh how we wish we could see you both as parents. What a magnificent time in your lives, right now. Give our love to Aaron and your son. Love you, Fjori!
